I agree, that is hollywood for you to try to put in some dumbdowned humor. It is because they think the audience needs a "he he" moment.

Pippin is protrayed as being a real idiot with no brains in the LOTR movies. That is wrong compared to the Pippin in Tolkien's books. It makes me mad. He is actually very smart. What do you think?
